About Taught Day Retreats

Taught day retreats are an opportunity to deepen one’s knowledge through contact with an experienced teacher

Each day-retreat is a day of continuous meditation, supported by silence. The structure of the day varies from one retreat to the next. Typically the day includes periods of sitting and walking meditation, a dharma talk, meditation guidance and an opportunity to ask questions.

Doors open at 9.30 for registration and a hot drink. Please arrive by 9.45am for a prompt 10.00am start. Teaching ends around 4.30pm and doors close at 5pm. We ask that you commit to staying for the full day.

Taught retreats are suitable for beginners as well as those with experience of meditation practice.

Information about planned taught retreats is available here.

The retreats are taught by regular Gaia House teachers, a well-known Buddhist Insight Meditation retreat centre. All retreat teachers are experienced teachers who commit to Insight Meditation Teacher’s Code of Ethics.
