This Heart’s Potential: A Meditation Day With Kirsten Kratz

Teacher: Kirsten Kratz
Date and time: Sunday 27 May 2018, 10am to 4.30pm
Venue The Pales, LD1 5UH

Many of us feel that we have had to turn the precious gift of being alive into a routine existence, thus limiting or forgetting our innate depth and potential.

During our day together we will explore how the qualities of compassionate presence, deep listening and energised enquiry can re-awaken our heart-mind to meet the whole of life with greater reverence, freedom and wonder, in an ever-deepening journey of discovery of what it may mean to be fully human. The poem shared below, by Antonio Machodo, captures the intention for the day.

Has my heart gone to sleep?
Have the beehives of my dreams
stopped working, the waterwheel
of the mind run dry,
scoops turning empty,
only shadow inside?

No, my heart is not asleep.
It is awake, wide awake.
Not asleep, not dreaming—
its eyes are opened wide
watching distant signals, listening
on the rim of vast silence.

Kirsten has practised Buddhist meditation in Asia and the West since 1993. She started teaching in 2006. One of her particular passions is exploring how wisdom teachings can foster appropriate responses to the challenges of our time.

Kirsten supports those on personal retreat in Gaia House, is co-initiator of the Dharma Action Network for Climate Engagement and teaches retreats with SanghaSeva combining Dharma practice and Service.
